Fall Decor

Seasonal Awareness

Hygge Lifestyle in a Luxury setting.

Welcome Fall … Bringing the Outside In and Creating Comfort.

Hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah") A Danish concept that encompasses a feeling of coziness, contentment, and well-being. It's more than just a word; it's a way of life. Hygge is all about creating a sense of comfort, happiness, and well-being in your everyday life. It's not about material possessions but rather the experiences and connections that bring warmth and contentment.

Here are some lifestyle elements associated with hygge that we try to incorporate at The Rockwell Harrison Guest Lodge B&B. Our location is ideally situated minutes away from Harrison Hot Springs Village, overlooking the majestic and expansive Harrison Lake and bordering Sasquatch Provincial Park.

  1. Cozy Atmosphere: Creating a warm and inviting atmosphere is at the core of hygge. No harsh lighting, Natural and unobstructed view, comfortable furnishings with handknit soft blankets, plush pillows, and warm colors.

  2. Candles: Candles play a significant role in hygge. The soft, flickering light they emit creates a soothing ambiance. Scented candles and natural scents in particular, can add an extra layer of comfort and sense of well-being.

  3. Simplicity: Hygge embraces simplicity and minimalism. It's about finding joy in the little things and not overcomplicating life. Decluttering and simplifying your living space is often a part of this. We use many natural elements like plants, wood & rocks to enhance the decor and remind us that we are part of the Natural world that surrounds us.

  4. Warm Beverages: Unlimited Hot drinks like tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are hygge staples, especially when enjoyed in the company of friends or family in our Common Areas. For a more intimate and peaceful experience, cuddle up under a cozy blanket on your Private Deck, overlooking the Lake and watch Nature’s show.

  5. Comfort Food: Comforting, homemade baked goods are hygge-friendly. Who wouldn’t want to sneak a cookie or two to compliment your beverage.

  6. Comfortable Clothing: Wearing comfortable and cozy clothing, like oversized sweaters and soft socks, contributes to the hygge experience. Of course we provide soft and cozy robes and slippers to help you out.

  7. Nature: Connecting with nature is a key element of hygge. Go for a walk in our “Front Yard” - the expansive Sasquatch Provincial Park which surrounds us gives you instant access to lakes, beaches, trails and the lush forest. No driving, no parking issues - just wander, breathe, absorb and embrace Nature at it’s finest just steps away. Take a Boat cruise on Harrison Lake or down Harrison River for a diversion. We also have contacts who can offer you an exciting outdoor experience along Harrison’s Forest Service Roads and Natural Hot Spring excursions if a little extra adventure is your goal!

  8. Seasonal Awareness: Embracing each season and finding ways to enjoy it, whether it's by cozying up by the fire in winter or having a picnic in the park in the summer, is part of the hygge lifestyle.

  9. Quality Time: Hygge encourages spending quality time with loved ones. This can involve playing board games, having meaningful conversations, or simply enjoying each other's company without distractions. Unplug for a stretch - Relax, Refresh and Rejeuvenate.

  10. Relaxation: Taking time to relax is essential for hygge. Whether it's curling up with a good book, taking a nap, practicing Yoga and mindfulness, going for a massage, finding moments of calm is important.

  11. Community: Hygge often involves socializing and building strong social connections. We support Local Business and keep on top of local events. We are happy to make you make the most of your stay and to feel part of the local community during your stay.

  12. Gratitude: Practicing gratitude and appreciating the present moment is a fundamental aspect of hygge. It's about finding joy in everyday experiences. We experience joy in meeting our valued Guests and in sharing experiences. We’re here to help … in an unobtrusive way. Many of our Guests feel like cherished friends by the time they leave - it fills us with gratitude.

  13. Mindfulness: Being present and fully engaged in the moment is a key aspect of hygge. Put away your devices and focus on the people and activities that bring you joy. If that sounds stressful, we have excellent Wifi and good cell reception for those times that you need to connect … or maybe share your experience virtually with your loved ones.

Make a conscious decision to disengage from your day-to-day and embrace a Canadian-style Hygge experience. We look forward to Welcoming You.
