Start Planning for the BEST SEASON
Harrison Hot Springs & The Harrison River Valley

An opportunity for your Spiritual Recovery!  A change in Season or just a shift away from your “everyday space” is a great way to lift your Spirits.  Stepping away, even briefly, can also help to re-define or re-shape your priorities.  Sometimes one just needs time to reflect – a different environment can offer a fresh new perspective and instill a degree of inspiration.  The best part – Harrison Hot Springs is easily accessible and yet a “World Away”.  Plan ahead … preferably, BOOK DIRECT to ensure availability and a personalized experience.

Be like the Falling Leaves … Peace and Quiet!

Fall Leaves

1.     RELAX:  Take a Deep Breath, Smell the Fresh Air, Feel the Gentle Breeze.  Listen to the gentle creeks flowing, the leaves rustling and the “Sound of Silence”.  Birds flying overhead in an intricate flying formation can be heard clearly.  The Forest is alive with small animals preparing for Winter.  Distant conversations cannot be overheard – and are just a whisper in the gentle breeze.  Space is all around us.  Think – your thoughts are alive and solitude is your friend.  Take time to reflect on the changing vegetation in the forests and the blue-green colours of the ever-shifting waters of the magnificent and expansive Harrison Lake.   Survey the surrounding Mountain Peaks, which still display their winter white cloaks.  The waters are calm; as are the winds … Fall is quiet.  Look up.  The Sunset is your outdoor theater and the Stars are Bright.  SOLITUDE & REFLECTIONS – you are one with the Natural World, whether alone or spending quality time with that Special Someone.

2.     REFRESH: Re-Connect with our NATURAL WORLD – The waters are home to Spawning Salmon.  Seals can be spotted as they follow the Salmon migration, from the open Pacific Ocean, the Fraser River, Harrison River and into Harrison Lake.  Beavers stay busy along the water’s edge and are forever re-engineering and shaping our waterways.  Eagles and Herons feast year-round on fish stocks, and come fall – the Eagle conventions are a sight to see as they recycle the spent Salmon carcasses.  Canada Geese take flight and the departing Birds leave behind an uncanny silence.  Ripening Fruit and Sweetened Grapes herald the occasional Black Bear to Village streets and local farms as they feast prior to their winter hibernation.

3.     EXPLORE:  Recreation should show you new frontiers and define new limits.  Hike, Walk or Stroll the numerous Trails around Harrison and within the Village - from Novice to Expert.  There is something for everyone.   Define Biking … From Mountain Biking, Road Trips, Touring, Circle Farms Tours or a relaxing ride along the back country Roads from Harrison, Agassiz and Scenic Route 7 – you will need to narrow it down or stay awhile longer.   Paddle the challenging waters of Harrison Lake (that could be a week trip all on its own if you choose to try to navigate the 60 km+ length of the Lake and back).  You may prefer the more sedate waters in Sasquatch Provincial Park’s 3 Lakes or on the higher Alpine Lakes on the West side.  Choose your mode of transportation – canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard.

4.     EXPAND YOUR BOUNDARIES:  Take a Scenic Boat Cruise up Harrison Lake, down the Harrison River or a join in a more Adventurous River Boat Ride along the “Mighty Fraser”.  Of course there is always River Rafting or Paragliding for the adrenaline seekers.  Jump back into your Car, SUV or Truck and check out a multitude of sights along, Highways # 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.  (Odd that there are only odd numbers for all the scenic drives around here – but you won’t be disappointed!).  There are Waterfalls, Cliffs, Bridges, Tunnels, Historic Sights and Mountain Meadows just calling out to you for an enjoyable 1-2 hour excursion.  If you are still up for more Discoveries, The Harrison East and West Forest Service Roads offer an endless network for Off-Road vehicles, ATV’s and Dirt Bikes.  If you want company, book a local Tour Company to show you the sights and hidden gems. Maybe you want to book a Fishing Charter for something you can truly brag about, such as pulling in a giant prehistoric Sturgeon.

5.     DISCOVER:  Find your “Inner Zen” … Let Go, Relax your tired muscles, Stretch, Ease your Stress, and Erase your Worries by joining in some Relaxing Activities such as Yoga, Forest Therapy or dipping into one of our Natural Hot Springs sources.  Music and Sound Therapy can also be therapeutic – you have your own nature sounds all around you.

6.     RENEW:  What is it about Campfires and Fireplaces?  Sitting around a warm campfire on a cooler Fall Evening is as good for the soul as watching and listening to the waves during the day.  Bring on the Stories; share the Wine, Hot Chocolate, Hot Buttered Rum, S’mores, and cozy blankets.  These are the evenings that you just don’t want to hurry!  This are the evenings when memories are made and that Instagram posts try to define.

7.     INGULGE:  Farm Fresh produce, freshly harvested and prepared is what good Food is all about.  Local Farmers take pride in their bounties and Local Restaurants flaunt their Specialties using Locally Sourced ingredients.  Take advantage of the Circle Farm Tour (on bike or by car), and the local Fall Harvests.  The popular Agassiz Fall Fair may not be as we know it this year, but we can still do Fresh and Support Local.  Artisan Cheese & Coffee Roasters smell even better in the Fall.

8.     BROADEN Your Perspectives:  Discover our Local History about our First Nations People, the appearance of Paddlewheel Boats which transported hopeful miners up to the start of the Gold Rush at Port Douglas, Gold Mining speculations, Swiss Guides and Mountaineering , the Railway, the start of International Tourism, Salmon and Trout Hatcheries and big Logging Camp operations.  There are tell-tell signs all around.  The Sasquatch has been around to witness all of it, and has many secrets to share about the lands and peoples around Harrison Hot Springs – they are elusive, but never out of the minds of locals.  Visit the Sasquatch Museum in Harrison to learn more and about our giant hairy neighbours who quietly and discreetly watch over us.

9.     MEANDER & PONDER:  Is it a Resort Village, Retirement Village, a Bedroom Community or a combination of all three?  As the crowds of Summer retreat, the Seasonal Residents depart (or perhaps only now visiting on weekends and holidays) the full-time Residents resurface.   “Village Life” re-emerges, like a butterfly from its cocoon. The Local shopkeepers have time to chat, to share a story or two, to answer your questions and to help you find that perfect unique treasure.  The Restaurants have room and no lineups – you can linger a little longer.  You can casually stroll along the waterfront or wander through the village trails and parks.  Slow it down, sit and take a Selfie of you “Doing Nothing”.  Chat, read, or listen to music. Enjoy a snack or beverage on a bench, picnic table or on the beach while overlooking the shining Lake.  “Channel a Local” who is also enjoying a slower pace and more space.

10.  DELIGHT: in Harrison’s “Old World Values" in our “New World”.  Stay Long Enough to get to Know Yourself again.  Time & Space is the ultimate indulgence.
